A 21 year old G2P1 was presented to the ER for severe vaginal bleeding. She underwent a DNC four months earlier. The Ultrasound and CT performed in the ER reported a 4 cm posterior uterine wall AVM. The patient was stabilized and discharged home.
The patient was referred to us by her Gynecologist. MRA showed an intracavitary “lesion” measuring 3.2 x 3.1 x 2.4 cm with pooling of contrast and enhancement from the right and left uterine arteries. There were no apparent early draining veins.
The patient was treated with Uterine Artery Embolization utilizing EmboCube. The recovery was uncomplicated.
Follow up MRI 3 weeks later showed interval resolution of the AVM. Truly happy with the outcome and appreciative that the patient traveled from Yonkers to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
